Reality singing show ‘The Voice’ is set to run back to back seasons for the first time when season four is aired immediately following the close of season 4. However, NBC Entertainment had confirmed that this means there will be a need to substitute some of the judges for season 4.

Cee Lo Green has other commitments in the form of work on a scripted comedy based on his own life in addition to working on his own music career, while Christina Aguilera will be taking time out to promote her new album Lotus which is slated for release on November 13. While Green and Aguilera leave some pretty big shoes to fill, NBC have certainly found worthy stand-ins in R&B star Usher and international superstar Shakira. The pair will join the other regular coaches/jusdges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton in the iconic swiveling chairs.

Speaking of the plan, NBC Entertainment’s chairman Robert Greenblatt sais, “We are thrilled to welcome Usher and Shakira to The Voice. Doing tw back to back cycles of this show requires a tremendous amount of time and we are happy to accommodate the commitments made by Christina and Cee Lo.”
