French box office sensation ‘The Intouchables’ has been tipped for Oscar success as the representative for Gaul in the foreign language category at this years Academy Awards. The film by Eric Toledano and Oliver Nakache has grossed $364.5 million globally, with a decent $8.9million take in the USA. Produced by Quaid Films and released by Gaumont in France, the US

The Intouchables was selected by a committee of seven respected members which included Thierry Fremaux and Paul Otchakovsky-Laurens. The remaining five members were selected by the Minister of Culture and Communication in France and include industry names from both in front and behind the cameras. Just a few of those chosen include Berenice Bejo, best known for starring in last year’s breakout Oscar sensation The Artist, screenwriter Abdel Raouf Dafri, producer Carole Scotta, director Sylvain Chomet and makeup artist Didier Lavergne.
