In the battle of the reality TV shows, it appears that Fox’s ‘The X Factor’ and CDS’ ‘Survivor’ are tied among the young adult demographic. The X Factor saw a ratings increase in its second week while the season 25 of Survivor pulled in more overall viewers than the last season opener.

The early estimates from Neilsen show that The X Factor had, on average, a 3.5 rating/10 share in the 18-49 demographic with around 9.4 million viewers between 8pm and 10pm. This is a small increase from the previous week’s season premiere episode. Survivor, meanwhile averaged a 3.1/10 in the same demographic with an average of 11.2 million viewers. During the 90 minutes that the shows were head to head, Survivor took the lead in the 25-54 age group while The X Factor proved more popular with the younger adults. Overall the shows were pretty much even.

The two shows have never gone head to head before. Last year Survivor premiered against the 2 hour finale of NBC powerhouse reality show ‘America’s Got Talent’.
