More Than Just ActingFor the most part, we are inclined to believe that the creativity that actors have is limited to simply acting. This simply isn’t true! In fact, there are a number of stars who not only do a great job in front of the camera, but also unleash their creativity in front of a microphone too.

Russell Crowe – Russell Crowe, the A Beautiful Mind actor, has been known for having a bad boy streak and not caring enough about what others thought about him. He has actually been criticized for his attempts at a musical career, even though he has released a number of rock albums in Australia. Crowe claims that music has been a passion of his since childhood, and plans on continuing to make music despite the criticisms of others.

Zooey Deschanel – The Elf and New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel is a woman of many talents, including acting, singing, writing songs and playing guitar. She has had the opportunity to write a number of songs performed by other musicians, but also used her vocals in several films as well. Music has been one of her longtime passions, and she claims it allows her to personalize her work more than acting does.

Ryan Gosling – As a childhood member of the Mickey Mouse Club, alongside singers like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, The Notebook actor Ryan Gosling has developed a love of music too. Though he was shadowed over by fellow club members, he has paired with Dead Man’s Bones member,  Zach Shields, and since released an album of pop rock music and gone on tour too!

Scarlett Johansson – The vocal talents of Scarlett Johansson, The Avengers actress, were first found out unexpectedly when she was asked to help with a benefit album. Producers liked her voice so much they asked her to create an album all her own. While she has loved to sing since childhood, her album didn’t seem to generate a large number of positive reviews, though this has not stopped her from belting out a tune.

Juliette Lewis – While you might know Juliette Lewis for her work in films such as From Dusk Till Dawn, Natural Born Killers and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?, there are few who realize her true passion is singing. Lewis was not only a member of The Licks, a punk rock band, but she has also had four solo albums released since 2004. Today she is still heavily focusing on her music career.

Eddie Murphy – The Beverly Hills Cop himself, Eddie Murphy was  more than a thriving comedian and actor during the eighties. In fact, he actually released a pop album in 1985 with a song corroborated with Rick James. While the album didn’t fair too badly, Murphy claims it was a flop, but he still likes music.

Mickey Rourke – Mickey Rourke is a well-known actor from films such as Sin City, but he claims that acting is his second passion, behind music. Rourke has performed several raps within the songs of his longtime friend, David Bowie, even though he has never produced an album of his own.

Steven Seagal – Steven Seagal has gained attention for his work on screen, with the environment and animal rights, and for his music. He has written a number of songs and even performed live on the guitar with many positive reactions for listeners. He has done solo work and paired with legends like Stevie Wonder and Bo Didley.

As you can see, creativity isn’t limited to simply acting for actors. Many of these stars have talents that we simply overlook or might not know about.
