Lionsgate have signed new deals to build on their already strong international partnerships with Germany’s Studiocanal, which also covers Austria and with Celestial Tiger Entertainment in East Asia. The multiple year deals are one more step towards Lionsgate’s dream of building an international distribution network in all major territories.

The Studiocanal deal will allow Lionsgate extended distribution in German speaking territories for the remaining installments of ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise, not to mention the renewal of distribution agreements for some 2000 Studiocanal titles in North America. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairs Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman said of the deal, “Studiocanal epitomizes the kind of blue-chip partner around whom we are building our international distribution network.” Both Lionsgate and Studiocanal also have partnerships with Elevation Sales for a home entertainment venture in the United Kingdom and the distribution of the Miramax library.

Lionsgate’s prescence in Asia is also boosted by the Celestial Tiger deal which will extend coverage from China and Southeast Asia to include the whole of East Asia including Japan and South Korea.
