Following the phenomenal success of World War II skeins ‘Band of Brothers’ and ‘The Pacific’, it looks as though HBO are set to back a third series in the genre – this time charting the fight in the skies over the Pacific region.

HBO president of programming, Michael Lombardo revealed this week that the network has entered into discussions with Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg who were executive producers of the previous World War II hits and who are both firm supporters of paying tribute to the Allied forces.

Band of Brothers was a 10 part mini series which focused on the U.S. ‘Easy Company’ as is battled in the ground war across Europe and picked up 6 Emmys from the 19 it was nominated for. The skein was a massive hit not just domestically, but worldwide. Meanwhile, The Pacific centered n Marines fighting the Japanese forces.

It is unclear as to when HBO will reach any decision on a third World War II series.
