Its seems like CAA are reviving plans to turn video game epic Gears of War into a film franchise to coincide with the release of the 4th game in the series next year.

The films went into development in 2007 with Len Wiseman attached to direct, but New Line slammed on the brakes in order to focus on this year’s highly anticipated ‘The Hobbit’. However, CAA are now said to be eager to meet producers and place the film with a new studio in the coming weeks. The most recent screenplay for the project was penned by Stuart Beattie who also wrote a draft of the ‘Halo’ movie – another video game project still in development. CAA represents both Epic Games and Stuart Beattie so it is likely that it will be his script that is used in discussions

Gears of War centers on human soldiers who are protecting a planet called Sera from an alien race known as the Locust Horde. It is expected that Epic Games will be heavily involved with the film project to try and keep it tied into the franchise which also has an accompanying series of books and collectible toys.
