Following large amounts of speculation, Focus Features has now confirmed that they have secured the highly acclaimed TIFF premiere ‘The Place Beyond The Pines’ starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes. The Derek Cianfrance film is slated for a 2013 release.

“Pines” is a powerful drama based around protagonist Luke’s (Gosling) decision to commit a crime in order to support his child. This ultimately pits the motorcycle rider against policeman Avery, played by Cooper in a cat and mouse game that will soon have a heavy impact on both families.

Gosling, Cooper and Mendes are joined by an illustrious cast including Ray Liotta and Ben Mendelsohn among others.

Focus arranged the deal with Sidney Kimmel Entertainment who financed the movie, with WME Global and Creative Artists Agency acting as agents. Representing SKE, Jim Tauber went on record as saying, “Sidney Kimmel and I are convinced that the entire Focus team understands the uniqueness of Derek’s bold and daring film, and that they provide the perfect home for the filmmaking group.”
