It may seem as though relative newcomers Katie Couric, Ricki Lake and Jeff Probbst have been stealing the spotlight in terms of syndication, but over the last few months Ellen DeGeneres has quietly been building her show into one of the strongest seen in years.

The latest season of ‘Ellen’ premiered last month to the best numbers yet in its decade long run with a 3.0 household rating / 8 share in Nielsen’s weighted metered markets and a 2.2/10 in the women 25-54 daytime demographic.

Even Warner Bros have been taken by surprise by the success following Ellen’s failure to get a noticeable boost when it took over many of Oprah’s timeslots last fall. However, it seems that viewers are now responding favourably to DeGeneres and her jovial nature and unpredictable manner – with her frequent dancing on the show being a big draw!

Ellen is showing significant growth across all markets, especially on non NBC owned stations where the increase is around the 50% mark.
