Director Craig Gillespie is currently in negotiations to take the helm of Disney’s upcoming sports drama ‘Million Dollar Arm’ which already has Mad Men star John Hamm attached in the lead role.

The picture, written by Tom McCarthy, is based on the true story of sports agent J.B. Bernstein who discovered pitchers Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel in an Indian reality show based on cricket. Having noted the similarities in pitching for cricket and baseball, he used his show to audition 40,000 cricket players and was able to sign the pair to the Pittsburgh Pirates as the first Indian players in pro baseball.

Production for the film is being handled by Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray of Mayhem Pictures and Joe Roth and Pala Patel for Roth Films. Gillespie has several directorial credits to his name including Lars and the Real Girl, Mr Woodcock, Fright Night, United States of Tara and Flamingo Thief.
