So far, 2012 has been a fairly quiet year for Dimension Films. The studio have released just one movie – the decidedly lacklustre ‘Piranha 3D’. However, Dimension do have a fair number of productions lined up for 2013 release and is now working to secure the U.S. Rights to new Eli Roth horror movie ‘Aftershock’ which has its first screening at Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness program on September 11.

Aftershock documents the aftermath of  an earthquake in a Chilean town which sees a small group fighting for survival while escaped inmates and chaos sweep the area. Roth both stars and produces while Nicolás López directs. López also wrote the script with help from both Roth and Guillermo Amodeo.

Midnight Madness is a key target for many distributors on the hunt for low budget , quick release options which will prove to be a hit among the gore hungry horror fans. If Dimension are successful in securing ‘Aftershock’ they may will aim for a Halloween release although this would pit the movie against hotly anticipated Paranormal Activity 4 from Paramount and Open Road’s Silent Hill : Revelation.
